Jeep totaled in early morning I-75 crash with semi truck

Early Tuesday morning, August 19, a semi truck entered the highway from the shoulder and ended up in front of a northbound Jeep on I-75 near Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers, Florida.

What happened: Around 1:30 a.m., the Jeep collided with the trailer of the semi. The truck kept going north after the crash.

The Jeep was totaled in the wreck.
The person in the Jeep had minor injuries and did not need to be taken to the hospital.
The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the semi and the driver, who left the scene.

The incident was first reported by authorities seeking help from anyone with information. The investigation is ongoing, according to WFLA.
