Troopers warn of fatigue risks after rig tumbles into a creek

Iowa troopers are highlighting the dangers of driving while tired following a big rig crash on Friday, February 23. The incident took place early morning on I-380 in Buchanan County, where a truck veered off the road and into a creek.

What happened: The southbound lane of I-380 at mile marker 49 near Brandon, Iowa, was the scene of the accident. Luckily, there were no injuries reported from the crash.

Photos from the scene show the truck submerged in the creek, triggering a response from the Linn County Regional Hazmat Team.

The warning: The Iowa State Patrol is using this crash to remind truck drivers about the risks of driving when they're too tired. "Driving while fatigued can be just as dangerous as driving while impaired!" remarked the Iowa State Patrol.

There's a positive takeaway, though: despite the severity of the crash, everyone involved came out unharmed.
