Interstate bridge collapses after semi hauling crane strikes overpass

A bridge on Interstate 27 near Tulia, Texas, collapsed on Tuesday, May 27, after it was hit by a semi truck hauling a crane.

What happened: The FM 928 overpass was struck by the truck in the morning. The impact left the bridge badly damaged. By the evening, the damaged part of the overpass gave way and fell down.

  • The truck driver's injuries were minor, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • No other drivers or passengers on the road were hurt.
  • The collapse was caught on video by a passerby.

What's next: The FM 928 overpass remains closed to all traffic. There is no set timeline for reopening, reported KHOU 11.
