Heroic trucker saves man from fiery crash on I-16

A dramatic scene unfolded on Interstate 16 in Dublin, Georgia, when a new truck driver saved a man's life after his car crashed and caught fire.

The accident: Charles Vickers, with under six months on the job, was driving when a car hit his trailer and got stuck underneath. The crash sparked flames, and Vickers quickly pulled over.

  • Vickers saw the driver trapped and burning. He ran to the vehicle, pulled the man to safety, and used his extinguisher to put out the flames.
  • Two other truckers stopped to help, using their own extinguishers.

The scene: "Watching him burn—I couldn’t do that. I just couldn’t live with that on my conscience," Vickers shared, reflecting his natural impulse to assist.
