Former trucking company worker used drone to drop bolts, paint

A former worker at a trucking company in Remington, Indiana, was arrested after police say he used a drone to drop bolts and paint jars at the company's facility, damaging property and vehicles.

What happened: According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, on May 26, 2025, surveillance cameras recorded bolts crashing onto a red GMC pickup belonging to an employee. About 75 nails were later found scattered around the property.

  • The suspect, Chase A. Bowman, 31, left the company on bad terms and reportedly owned a drone that could drop objects.
  • Other incidents on May 30 and June 1 saw glass jars filled with white paint dropped on the building’s roof, leaving broken glass up to 30 yards away.
  • Detectives linked the dropped materials to bolts missing from a previous employer's inventory.

How police tracked him: The sheriff’s office found FAA records connecting Bowman to a DJI Air 3S drone, which matched the type used. His home is just over a mile from the scene.

Officers executed a search warrant at Bowman’s home on June 4 and collected drones and related materials. Bowman was booked into Jasper County Detention Center on July 26 for felony stalking, criminal recklessness, and criminal mischief.
