Fire damages Texas truck stop, investigations underway

A major fire engulfed a truck stop in Anthony, Texas, early Friday morning, causing significant damage to the facility.

What happened: The blaze started around 6 a.m. on March 21 at the Flying J travel center, off I-10. It is believed to have begun in the Denny's restaurant attached to the truck stop.

  • Thankfully, all staff and patrons were safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.

Safety first: The Pilot Company, which operates the truck stop, assured that safety is their top priority. They expressed gratitude towards the first responders for their swift action in ensuring everyone's safety.

Current status: The facility is temporarily closed for investigation and repairs as authorities work to determine the cause of the fire. The Flying J at 3001 Mountain Pass Blvd is not operational, as reported by Pilot Flying J.

The truck stop caters to many truckers each day and provides various services, including fuel, showers, and parking. Authorities are investigating the incident thoroughly, and reopening plans will be determined post-assessment.
