Fatal road rage shooting claims trucker's life on I-295

Virginia State Police are investigating a tragic road rage incident that ended in the death of truck driver Silvio Sobrinho. The shooting occurred on southbound I-295 in Henrico County on January 31.

The incident: Around 11:30 p.m., Sobrinho's truck was hit by another semi traveling in the center lane, pushing his vehicle into a guardrail. Afterward, the other truck driver allegedly fired multiple shots into Sobrinho's cab.

  • A witness discovered Sobrinho unresponsive at the wheel and called authorities.
  • Sobrinho was pronounced dead at the scene, despite CPR efforts from a responding trooper.

Suspect search: The suspect’s semi is described as a white truck with green lettering. State police are seeking the public's help for any information or dash cam footage that could assist in identifying the vehicle.

"This is an active and ongoing investigation," stated Capt. Brien Frey, urging those with information to contact the Virginia State Police.

The investigation is ongoing, reported WWBT, as authorities continue to search for leads.
