Fatal head-on collision between two semis closes I-77

A tragic crash occurred on Wednesday, December 4th, when a semi crossed the median on I-77 in Guernsey County, Ohio, leading to a head-on collision with another semi. The accident resulted in two deaths.

The details: A white 2020 Freightliner, traveling south, veered into the northbound lanes near mile marker 49. It struck a northbound red semi-truck, causing a blaze that made identifying the vehicle nearly impossible.

  • The driver and a passenger in the white Freightliner, Karan Singh and Harleen Kaul, were killed instantly.
  • The driver of the red semi, Sukhginder Singh, survived but needed medical attention at a nearby hospital.

Response: The crash forced a section of I-77 to close for several hours. Multiple fire departments and the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

Looking ahead: The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash to determine what caused the white Freightliner to deviate from its lane. All lanes of I-77 have now reopened.
