Estes expands operations with 11 new terminal acquisitions

Estes, the largest privately owned freight carrier in North America, is expanding its reach by acquiring 11 more terminals from the defunct Yellow Corp.

What's happening: This acquisition involves seven owned properties and four leased terminals that add significant capacity and coverage to Estes' network.

  • The seven newly owned terminals include locations in Tracy, CA; Fort Wayne, IN; Jeffersonville, IN; Hagerstown, MD; Omaha, NE; Cincinnati, OH; and Ringgold, GA.
  • The leased terminals are set in Norway, MI; Dunmore, PA; Miami, FL; and Orange, CA.

Why it matters: Estes has been on a growth spree, significantly increasing its equipment and real estate investments since 2024. These new acquisitions are integral to boosting the company's capacity and service efficiency.

Angela Maidment, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate and Legal Affairs, praised the move as a key step in preserving Estes' strong financial position without incurring additional debt.

This purchase marks a total of 37 owned and 15 leased terminals for Estes, demonstrating their continued commitment to expanding their service [[network](https://www.estes-express.com/news/estes-acquires-11-terminals-1-215-doors-from-former-yellow-corp)].

By the numbers: Estes now operates with over 12,000 doors across its terminals, a 6.2% rise since January 2024.

With this latest expansion, Estes is set to increase its customer service reach, allowing it to serve more clients effectively.

Year's start has been promising for Estes, broadening its network without sacrificing financial health.
