A truck crash in West Dundee, Illinois, on October 29th resulted in the death of one driver and critical injuries to another.
What happened: Around 8 a.m., a Freightliner semi truck failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Miller Road and Illinois Route 31. This caused a collision with a Mack truck that had the right of way.
- The Freightliner, hauling sand, rolled over, and came to a halt on the north shoulder of the road.
- The Mack truck, which carried enclosed cargo, veered off the road and ended up in a field to the east of Route 31.
The aftermath: The driver of the Freightliner, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to NBC Chicago. The Mack truck driver was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Road closures: Authorities shut down parts of Miller Road and Illinois Route 31 for investigation. Drivers were advised to take alternative routes.
