Car dragged under semi for miles on I-45 in Houston

Just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, a major crash happened on the northbound side of Interstate 45 in Houston.

What happened: A Lexus driver tried to dodge something in the road near the North Loop and slid under a moving 18-wheeler. The car got jammed under the trailer, and the truck driver didn’t know what happened and kept driving down the freeway.

  • The Lexus was dragged for about two miles, until another driver waved down the truck to make it stop.
  • The front of the car caught on fire after the truck pulled over. Houston firefighters showed up fast and put out the flames.

The result: Amazingly, no one was hurt in the wreck—even with the fire and the car being stuck under the big rig.

Police said it's still not clear what the debris was that caused the driver to swerve. No further details have been shared, according to KHOU 11.
