Car crash causes semi to overturn on NC Highway 50

A chaotic scene unfolded on NC Highway 50 near Benson, North Carolina, on May 14 when a four-wheeler was involved in a crash with multiple tractor-trailers.

The details: A car waiting to turn was hit from behind by a semi, pushing it into the path of another oncoming truck.

  • The first semi overturned, ending up partially on the road and in a roadside ditch.
  • The crash left NC 50 blocked at Surels Road as crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Injuries: Both the driver of the car and the trucker in the overturned semi sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital in Smithfield, according to WRAL.

Thankfully, the injuries were not severe and everyone involved is expected to recover. Emergency teams continue to monitor the situation to ensure a smooth clearing of the highway.
