A semi truck driver was charged in South Carolina after a bomb threat halted traffic on I-85. Authorities identified Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi as the suspect responsible for the disruption.
Details: The incident took place on January 2 around 2:45 p.m. at mile marker 44 in Greenville County. It led to the shutdown of all six lanes in both directions.
- Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi, from Oak Lawn, Illinois, allegedly claimed there was an explosive device inside the vehicle during a routine stop initiated by a South Carolina State Transport Police officer.
- The truck was reported to belong to Globe Transportation, also based in Illinois.
The charges: Alhendi faces multiple charges, including breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, conveying false information concerning a bomb threat, and operating an unregistered vehicle.
