Truck's brakes overheat, causing fire on Utah highway

A semi-trailer fire occurred late Tuesday morning in Cedar Canyon, Utah. The incident was linked to the truck's brakes overheating.

Details: The blaze started around 11 a.m. near mile marker 5 on State Route 14, affecting a white Peterbilt hauling a single box trailer headed westbound.

  • A cement truck driver stopped to help before the firefighters arrived, attempting to douse the flames with his truck's water hose.
  • The trailer was destroyed, but firefighters managed to save the semi truck itself.

What happened: Firefighters from Cedar City Fire Department responded quickly, putting out the fire and preventing further damage.

The road was closed for more than 30 minutes but reopened around noon, reported St. George News.

The outcome: Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
