Truckers passing the Tilford Port of Entry near Rapid City, South Dakota, were in for a treat on Wednesday, September 18th.
Event details: The South Dakota Highway Patrol hosted a trucker appreciation event to celebrate the opening of a new inspection facility.
- Officers served burgers, hot dogs, and sides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Truckers received tours of the advanced inspection bay, designed for year-round use.
- Participants also received goodies like pens and tote bags.
What they said: “The big difference is this bay behind us. Now we can do inspections all year-round. We don’t have to worry about the weather or the snow out here in the parking lot or whether or not we can crawl under a truck,” said Brian Stenbeck, an inspector at the port of entry.
Considering the windy weather, truckers appreciated the new facility's indoor waiting area, according to KOTA TV News.
The new facility aims to make inspections quicker and more comfortable for truckers, especially during harsh weather conditions.
