A semi truck found itself in a tight spot after following GPS directions onto a rough dirt road in California on Tuesday night, October 22. The truck ended up stuck for 10 hours.
The backstory: The truck was traveling on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County before the GPS suggested a turn onto Stagecoach Road. This unpaved and very uneven dirt path isn’t suited for big rigs.
- The truck became stuck around 11:30 p.m. and wasn't freed until about 9:45 a.m. the next day.
- A tow truck and California Highway Patrol (CHP) worked through the night to get it back on the highway.
What they're saying: CHP issued a warning for truckers: "Avoid GPS directions onto Stagecoach Road; stay on Highway 101. This route is not safe for large vehicles," they noted on Facebook.
Looking forward: Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the challenging recovery was a reminder of the tricky terrains some GPS paths can lead to.
