Truck driver falls asleep, crashes on I-15 in Utah

No one was seriously injured after a truck driver fell asleep while hauling double trailers and crashed into another semi-truck.

When it happened: The accident occurred on the morning of September 18th on northbound Interstate 15 at exit 33 in Pintura, Utah.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, the FedEx driver, who had a co-driver resting, began to doze off and sideswiped another semi-truck. The crash caused the FedEx rig to overturn, with both trailers ending up on the grassy shoulder.

  • Both the driver and the co-driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
  • Traffic was minimally impacted as the trailers landed off the roadway.
  • Cleanup efforts included dragging the overturned trailers back through a roadside fence.

Officials closed exit 33 temporarily for the cleanup process, reported Fox 13 News. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
