Semi truck damages trailer in Bankhead Tunnel incident

A semi truck hit the top of the Bankhead Tunnel in Mobile, Alabama, damaging its trailer on the morning of September 21.

What happened: Around 10 a.m., the truck driver didn't notice the signs warning about the 12-foot height clearance and struck the tunnel's roof. There were no injuries reported.

Traffic footage shows the truck hitting the tunnel despite multiple height warning signs.
Police stated that the driver missed the height clearance signs until it was too late to stop.

The Bankhead Tunnel was briefly closed for the truck removal, causing some traffic delays. The vehicle was removed successfully later that day, reported WKRG.
