Semi truck catches fire on Maine Turnpike, investigation underway

Early Monday morning, a semi truck caught fire on the Maine Turnpike during a towing operation.

The incident: Maine State Police (MSP) arrived at mile marker 75 at around 4 a.m. on December 16. They found a tire on a 2018 Kenworth had ignited.

  • The fire, which started from the tire, consumed the entire truck.
  • No damage occurred to the tow truck.

No injuries: Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

Investigation ongoing: The cause of the fire remains under investigation by MSP.
