Four new truck stops are being built along I-10 between Beaumont and Orange, Texas, expected to boost the local economy.
The big picture: These stops aim to meet the increasing demand for fueling, parking, and food access for truckers in the area.
Local impact: Vidor City Manager Robbie Hood noted that sales tax from these stops will benefit the city and Orange County.
- "Every dollar spent inside the road ranger, the City of Vidor captures sales tax from that," said Hood.
- Lamar State College-Orange is offering new CDL classes to help meet the demand for truck drivers.
What to expect: The first truck stop is set to open by the end of October 2024, reported 12 News Now.
The opening dates for the remaining three stops have not been announced yet.
Truckers traveling through this corridor can look forward to these new facilities soon.
