The South Dakota Highway Patrol celebrated the new Tilford port of entry with a trucker appreciation event on Wednesday, September 18th.
The event: Truckers passing through were treated to burgers, hot dogs, and sides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Officers also provided tours of the new partially-indoor inspection facility.
Why it matters: The new inspection bay allows for year-round inspections, keeping truckers and inspectors out of the harsh weather. "We don’t have to worry about the weather or the snow out here in the parking lot," said Brian Stenbeck, an inspector at the port of entry.
- The facility offers new technology and a comfortable indoor waiting area for truckers during inspections.
- Promo items like pens and tote bags were given out to truckers who attended.
Dozens of truckers joined the celebration, reported KOTA TV News.
