Louisiana State Police crack down on human trafficking

The Louisiana State Police (LSP) recently launched a major campaign against human trafficking, targeting commercial vehicles. This took place as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative.

The operation: This involved truck inspections and the use of helicopters. They aimed to enforce safety standards and track unauthorized riders in commercial vehicles.

  • LSP's Transportation Safety Services team conducted inspections following federal guidelines.
  • Helicopter support used technology to spot unsafe drivers from above.
  • Department of Transportation and Development Police ensured all trucks were checked at the scales.

What they're saying: "If you see or hear anything you suspect of being connected to human or labor trafficking, you can anonymously report this information to the Louisiana State Police," LSP urged.
