Important safety inspection dates for truckers in 2025

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announced the dates for the major commercial vehicle enforcement activities in 2025.

The timeline: Key enforcement events include the International Roadcheck, Operation Safe Driver Week, and Brake Safety Week.

  • International Roadcheck: Scheduled for May 13-15 across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. This event is the largest targeted inspection program, with an average of 15 trucks and motorcoaches inspected every minute over 72 hours.
  • Operation Safe Driver Week: Scheduled for July 13-19. Law enforcement will focus on risky driving behaviors. Got caught? Expect a citation or a warning.
  • Brake Safety Week: Set for August 24-30, inspectors will emphasize brake linings and pads. Apart from the announced week, there will be an unannounced one-day brake safety inspection.

Why it matters: These blitzes aim to enhance road safety by targeting and eliminating critical vehicle violations, especially those related to brake systems, which are often cited in roadside inspections.

Mark your calendars and make sure your rig is up to code. These checks are thorough and aim to keep not only truckers but everyone on the road safe.
