A police pursuit on Interstate 95 in Florida early on February 2nd led to the tragic deaths of Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Zachary Fink, 26, and an unnamed truck driver.
The incident: It began when St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office deputies spotted a vehicle speeding excessively. Fink observed the suspect's vehicle fleeing in the wrong direction, made a U-turn in pursuit, and was then hit by a semi-truck near mile marker 120. Both Fink and the truck driver were fatally injured.
Trooper Fink was airlifted to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect, who had fled on foot after crashing the chased vehicle into a tree, was captured by law enforcement around 8 AM.
