Florida seeks trucker feedback on I-75 rest stop upgrades

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is asking for driver input on renovations for a rest stop off I-75 near Gateway, Florida. They have proposed three plans to enhance the facility.

What's at stake: Each plan focuses on increasing truck parking, reducing motorist spaces, and improving safety and access. FDOT believes these upgrades are essential given the truck parking shortfall identified in previous studies.

  • The I-75 Lee County Rest Area was deemed a candidate for additional capacity due to high demand, especially for trucks in the area.
  • The feasibility study being conducted also looks at modernizing the site with better pedestrian and bike facilities.

Participate: Truckers and other road users have until March 10th to provide feedback. A public meeting already occurred, but online comments are still welcomed.

This feedback is crucial for shaping the future of this rest stop, reported SWFL Roads. The final decision seeks to address both current and future truck parking needs.
