Dense fog leads to major pile-up on Causeway bridge

A dense fog advisory is set for Southeast Louisiana, starting midnight Wednesday through 10 a.m. The thick fog has already caused major issues, including a huge pile-up on The Causeway bridge on Tuesday morning.

Impact: At least 50 vehicles were involved in the accident, injuring 33 people and leaving 30 stranded. The fog made visibility almost impossible, reported WDSU News.

  • Authorities suggest this may be the worst accident in the history of The Causeway bridge.
  • Drivers are warned that Wednesday's conditions could be even worse than the previous days.

Weather conditions: Meteorologists indicate calmer winds are expected, which means the fog will stick around longer this time.

Drivers should be cautious during late-night and early morning commutes, as this fog is anticipated to be heavier than usual, especially around water bodies like Lake Pontchartrain.

Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported so far from the incident.
