Alabama trucker faces charges after late-night stand-off

An Alabama truck driver found himself in hot water after an altercation with police at a Love’s Travel Center on Wednesday night. The incident happened in Greene County, Alabama, at around 11 p.m.

What happened: James Shanks parked his semi truck in a restricted area at the truck stop and refused to move his vehicle. When law enforcement arrived, he resisted their requests.

  • Officers informed Shanks that he would face trespassing charges if he didn’t comply.
  • He also refused to provide identification when asked by the police.
  • Shanks was subsequently tased, but the tactic reportedly did not work as intended, according to WGRV News.

The charges: After eventually cooperating, Shanks was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.

The incident wrapped up without any reported injuries, but the charges against Shanks remain pending.
