Alabama trucker faces charges after late-night stand-off

An Alabama truck driver found himself in hot water after an altercation with police at a Love’s Travel Center on Wednesday night. The incident happened in Greene County, Alabama, at around 11 p.m.

What happened: James Shanks parked his semi truck in a restricted area at the truck stop and refused to move his vehicle. When law enforcement arrived, he resisted their requests.

Officers informed Shanks that he would face trespassing charges if he didn’t comply.
He also refused to provide identification when asked by the police.
Shanks was subsequently tased, but the tactic reportedly did not work as intended, according to WGRV News.

The charges: After eventually cooperating, Shanks was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.

The incident wrapped up without any reported injuries, but the charges against Shanks remain pending.
