Trucks slip on icy I-82, causing road closure

Icy roads led to trouble on Friday, January 3, when semi trucks blocked Interstate 82 near Ellensburg, Washington, after losing control.

What's happening: The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) required chains for vehicles over 10,000 pounds traveling on I-82 in both directions that morning.

  • The eastbound lane was closed for a time but is now reopened.
  • No injuries were reported during the incident.

Important detail: Trucks not having chains contributed to the closure, making it crucial for drivers to check their vehicles' requirements.

WSDOT reminded truckers that using the right equipment is important not only for their safety but also for keeping the roads clear, reported KXLY.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the road is now open for travel.
