Trucker's quick thinking stops vacuum theft at truck stop

Seven men found themselves in handcuffs after attempting to make off with vacuums from a parked semi truck in Barstow, California.

The incident: This took place around 8:43 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5th, when police were alerted about a burglary in progress at a local truck stop.

  • The suspects were seen unloading items from the semi and packing them into a van.
  • The driver, 62-year-old Victor Ramirez, led officers on a chase before stopping the vehicle and taking off on foot.
  • A K9 unit and aviation unit assisted in tracking down all seven men.

What was recovered: Officers managed to retrieve 100 Shark vacuums valued at about $23,000, which they returned to the owner.

What's next: The men have been booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Jail. Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident.
