Trucker escapes unhurt after rig dangles from snowy overpass

A trucker had a close call Wednesday morning on Interstate 694 in Maplewood, Minnesota. While crossing a snowy overpass, the truck began sliding, leaving the cab hanging over the edge.

What happened: The incident occurred on March 5 during a snowstorm, when the semi-truck, moving along the westbound stretch of I-694 near White Bear Avenue, started slipping. It stopped precariously with the cab dangling above the freeway below.

  • Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
  • Traffic was redirected as emergency crews stabilized and removed the truck.

Road conditions: The snowstorm made travel challenging, with numerous spinouts and accidents reported. High winds added to the difficulties, as roadways remained snow-covered and slippery.

By the numbers: This incident is just one of many that happened across the area due to slick conditions, reported FOX 9.

The semi-truck was safely pulled back onto the roadway, with the overpass reopening after crews cleared the scene.
