Truck driver sentenced for defrauding Bath and Body Works, Amazon

Gurtej Singh, also known as Gary Bhullar, received a 12-month prison sentence for defrauding shippers, including Bath and Body Works and Amazon.

Details: Singh, along with affiliated companies, illegally consolidated loads to cut delivery costs and failed to deliver several shipments. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud in February 2024.

  • From April 2018 to May 2022, Singh operated schemes to hide the illegal consolidation, including altering seal serial numbers and paperwork.
  • The scheme involved removing goods from trailers and consolidating cargo to generate higher profits, according to a DOT OIG press release.
  • Authorities discovered missing pallets during a warehouse search in Columbus, which Singh and his company, Cargo Solutions Express, had stolen.

Legal aftermath: In addition to his prison time, Singh will serve three years of supervised release, pay a $100 special assessment, and complete 100 hours of community service.

The investigation was conducted by the DOT-OIG and Columbus Police Department.
