Truck collision on I-70 closes eastbound lanes temporarily

Two semi trucks collided early Friday morning on I-70 in Colorado. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. between Eagle and Edwards.

The incident: One truck was going west when it crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and hit another semi truck.

  • The eastbound truck had two people in it. Both were sent to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
  • The westbound driver wasn't hurt.

Possible cause: The Colorado State Patrol suspects driver fatigue might have caused the crash, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Impact: Eastbound I-70 was closed from Exit 163 (Edwards) to Exit 167 (Avon) but one lane reopened by Friday afternoon, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in the incident, and the highway has partially reopened.
