Tragic multi-vehicle crash with semis on I-35 in Texas

A tragic accident unfolded on Wednesday morning in Hewitt, Texas, involving nine vehicles on I-35.

What happened: At 6 a.m., a big rig didn't slow down for traffic near mile marker 326, resulting in a fiery collision.

  • Three semi-trucks and six passenger vehicles were caught in the crash.
  • Jennifer James, aged 39, tragically lost her life at the scene.
  • Six others sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

Current situation: Traffic on northbound I-35 is being diverted to Exit 328 due to significant delays.

What they're saying: TXDPS Sergeant Howard noted, "The truck-tractor semi-trailer was moving at a high rate of speed despite the slowing traffic due to road work."

Officials are still working to clear the area, and it's unclear when the road will reopen.
