Tragic multi-vehicle crash with semis on I-35 in Texas

A tragic accident unfolded on Wednesday morning in Hewitt, Texas, involving nine vehicles on I-35.

What happened: At 6 a.m., a big rig didn't slow down for traffic near mile marker 326, resulting in a fiery collision.

Three semi-trucks and six passenger vehicles were caught in the crash.
Jennifer James, aged 39, tragically lost her life at the scene.
Six others sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

Current situation: Traffic on northbound I-35 is being diverted to Exit 328 due to significant delays.

What they're saying: TXDPS Sergeant Howard noted, "The truck-tractor semi-trailer was moving at a high rate of speed despite the slowing traffic due to road work."

Officials are still working to clear the area, and it's unclear when the road will reopen.
