Snowy weather leads to 22-vehicle crash on I-5 in Washington

On Thursday, February 13, a massive crash on southbound Interstate 5 in Toledo, Washington involved 22 vehicles, including several semi-trucks.

The backdrop: Snowy and icy road conditions led to the pile-up near Chehalis. Traffic was backed up for around 12 miles.

  • Among the vehicles were semi-trucks, box trucks, and passenger cars.
  • Six people sustained injuries and were taken to local hospitals.

Status update: The crash happened around noon, and the right lane was reopened three hours later, with the full roadway cleared by 5:30 p.m.

  • Emergency crews worked to manage and clear the scene as quickly as possible, according to KOMO News.

No fatalities were reported, a relief amidst the chaos caused by the treacherous weather conditions.
