Serious semi truck collision affects I-70 eastbound traffic

Early Friday morning, a serious crash involving two semi trucks occurred on I-70 in Colorado near Eagle and Edwards.

The incident: Around 4:30 a.m. on September 20, one westbound truck crossed the left shoulder barrier into the eastbound lanes, colliding with another semi truck.

The eastbound truck had two occupants who were taken to a local hospital.
The condition of these individuals is currently unknown.
The westbound driver was not injured.

Possible cause: Investigators suspect driver fatigue might have contributed to the crash but are considering all possible factors before finalizing their report.

Impact: The crash led to the closure of eastbound I-70 between Exit 163 (Edwards) and Exit 167 (Avon).

One lane of I-70 eastbound was reopened by Friday afternoon.
