Passenger train delays after hitting semi-truck in North Carolina

A passenger train collided with a semi truck in Gaston County, North Carolina early on February 11th, causing significant delays but no injuries.

What happened: The Amtrak train, traveling from New Orleans to New York City, struck a tractor-trailer stuck on the tracks between Kings Mountain and Bessemer City.

  • The cab had separated from the trailer, which spilled a load of milk onto the tracks.
  • Hazmat teams were called to address a minor fuel leak and spilled milk, according to Queen City News.

No injuries: None of the 113 train passengers or the truck driver were injured in the accident.

Delays: Passengers faced "lengthy delays" as the scene was cleared and repairs took place.
