Ohio to Add 38 Truck Parking Spaces on I-80

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is set to convert a closed rest area on I-80 in Hubbard Township into a truck parking facility. This project will add 38 parking spaces, restrooms, lighting, and security cameras starting in 2026.

Why it matters: Truck parking is critical for drivers who need safe and accessible places to rest during long hauls. This new facility will be a welcome addition for truckers traveling near the Ohio/Pennsylvania state line.

  • The site will be funded by a grant from the Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and High Projects fund.
  • The facility will also include green space, demonstrating a focus on both functionality and environmental considerations.

What's next: ODOT has encouraged feedback from the community and interested parties. Those with comments or questions can reach out to Brian Peck, Environmental Specialist, at ODOT District 4.

Additional information about the project's details and funding can be found by checking the Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and High Projects fund, reported Transportation Department.
