New Truck Stops Along I-10 Corridor to Boost Economy

Southeast Texas is set to see economic growth along the I-10 corridor with the opening of several new truck stops.

The details: Four new truck stops are planned between Beaumont and Orange, Texas. At least one is expected to open by October 2024.

  • These stops provide parking, fuel, food, and other amenities for truckers.
  • Vidor’s city manager, Robbie Hood, highlighted the area's hub status for various industries and the state.
  • "Every dollar spent in these truck stops brings sales tax revenue to Vidor and Orange County," said Hood.

The big picture: The truck stops aim to support the increased demand for truck drivers and services in the region, noted Lamar State College-Orange CDL Program Director Carl Cormier.

  • Southeast Texas leaders are banking on these stops to drive local economic growth.
  • There is an ongoing need for more truck drivers, with new CDL classes starting every Monday.

What’s next: According to 12 News Now, the exact opening dates for the other three truck stops have not yet been announced.
