States show appreciation for truckers during NTDAW 2024

As National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW) wrapped up on September 21, 2024, many across the U.S. showed their gratitude for the essential work truckers do.

The big picture: This annual event celebrates the 3.5 million truckers who keep the country running by delivering goods safely and efficiently.

By the numbers: Here's how some states showed their appreciation:

  • In Oregon, free lunches were provided to truckers at various scale houses throughout the week.
  • South Dakota held several recognition events, honoring truckers for their commitment and hard work.
  • In Texas, organizations came together to distribute care packages and meals to truck drivers at multiple rest stops.

What they're saying: "This week is all about showing our truck drivers how much they mean to us. Their hard work and dedication are truly appreciated," said an organizer from one of the recognition events.

Between the lines: Despite the challenging job and long hours, truckers received heartfelt thanks and recognition across the country, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining America's supply chain.

The appreciation events gave truckers a much-needed boost, but the acknowledgment of their hard work shouldn't be limited to just one week.
