Kansas trooper advises trucker on festive lights rules

A Kansas trucker was hit with a citation for holiday-themed decorations on his rig. The incident took place on November 26, 2024.

The situation: A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper stopped the truck decked out in festive lights, including red and blue ones.

  • The trooper explained that such colors are reserved for emergency vehicles.
  • The decoration, while spirited, could confuse drivers and cause accidents.

What happened next: The driver received a citation for unauthorized lighting on the vehicle, aimed at keeping highways safe.

The patrol's advice: "While we appreciate the holiday cheer, let’s keep the roads safe for everyone," noted Trooper Ben Gardner.

Fortunately, the incident ended with just a citation, and no accidents were reported.
