Expired plates lead to major drug haul in truck stop

In August 2024, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper uncovered a major drug haul during a traffic stop in Madison County.

The discovery: The trooper found over 17.6 pounds of cocaine and 300 pounds of meth in a semi trailer.

The truck was initially stopped for expired trailer plates and erratic driving at speeds of 72 to 75 mph.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $14.26 million.

Charges: The truck driver, a 41-year-old, was hit with felony drug trafficking charges.

This is part of ongoing enforcement to disrupt drug trafficking routes.
