Elder Logistics, a family-run trucking company out of Washington state, has shut its doors. Their final day running trucks was Friday, October 17th.
The details: The company started in 2010 with just two semis and grew to run 145 trucks at its height — operating across 6 LTL states and 15 truckload states. At the end, they were down to 52 trucks.
- Elder Logistics said business just couldn’t survive what they called “simply unprecedented” weak market conditions, which lasted over three years.
- They put up a fight to keep the company alive by making cuts, changing plans, and looking for new business. Still, it wasn’t enough.
“We took every thoughtful step we could to cut back, adjust, pivot and look for green grass wherever we could. In the end, the lift was 5lbs more than we could handle,” the company shared in a post on LinkedIn.
What’s next: About 230 people worked at Elder Logistics during its best years. The company praised its team for their grit, saying many are now looking for new opportunities and will bring strong experience wherever they land.
