Early Tuesday morning, a chain-reaction crash involving four semi trucks unfolded on I-69 in Richmond, Texas, just outside of Houston.
What happened: Around 3:30 a.m. on January 21, trucks collided due to black ice amid unexpected snowfall. One semi overturned, sparking a sequence of crashes.
- The second truck jackknifed trying to avoid the first, only to be struck by a third, causing significant damage.
- A fourth semi was also involved, receiving trailer damage.
The impact: Two drivers were hospitalized with injuries that aren’t life-threatening. As crews worked to clear debris, the highway was extensively blocked.
Snow and icy conditions are expected to stay until Wednesday afternoon, reported CW 39.
